Group Size Limits
The Yukon Flats Refuge does not impose any group size limitations and there are no limits on private parties traveling in the Arctic Refuge.
Commercial group sizes have been restricted within the Arctic Refuge: Rafting or paddling groups are limited to a maximum of ten people and hiking and base-camping parties to a total of seven (guides and clients combined). For rafting parties, no commercial operator is allowed to have more than one group on a river at a time.
I prefer to work with small parties because they are best suited to the limitations of bush-travel. Small groups tend to adapt to changing circumstances, travel more efficiently and with less impact, and are less encumbered by the distractions and tensions inherent with the more complex logistics associated with large groups.
